Personal integrity contends with empty stomach in Filippos Tsitos’s delectably dark tragicomedy. Sixty-year-old journalist Demos (Antonis Kafetzopoulos), a specialist in ancient Greek idioms, is unemployed in Athens and uncompromising in his principles. He is determined to uphold a decent life, whatever tribulations may come. But faced with homelessness and hunger, his convictions start to waver when he meets a group of gatecrashers who sneak into high-society parties to eat for free. Does basic survival trump moral uprightness? Greek actor and poet Christos Valavanidis, who passed away in March, received a posthumous Hellenic Film Academy Award for his supporting role in the film.
